It begins with a free consultation, 30 minutes in person or 15 minutes by phone. Shaheen reviews your health history, watches how your brows move when you frown and relax, and talks through what a realistic result looks like. If you go ahead, the treatment typically takes 10 to 20 minutes: the skin is cleansed, a topical numbing cream may be applied if you would like it, and a small number of precise injections is placed between the brows. What should I expect afterward?
Immediately after the injections you may see small raised bumps or a little redness at each point, and these typically settle within a short time. Your provider gives you aftercare instructions at the visit, and following them matters more in the first few hours than at any other point. Then you wait. Results start to appear within 3 to 5 days, settle in about 1 to 2 weeks, and last approximately 3 to 4 months. Can frown lines and forehead lines be treated in one visit?
Yes, and they often are. The frown muscles pull the brows down and the forehead muscle lifts them, so the two areas are assessed together to keep the brows balanced. If you only treat the frown lines, your forehead will still move as before; if you treat both, the plan is designed so the brows keep a natural position. Will I look angry or surprised afterward?
The aim is the opposite. Relaxing the frown muscles softens the pulled-together look that reads as anger, and a well-placed treatment does not lift the brows into a surprised expression. Is this the same as a brow lift?
No. A brow lift is a surgical procedure that repositions the brows. Botox for frown lines relaxes the muscles that pull the brows down and together. Any change in how your brows sit is subtle and temporary, and it is planned as part of the treatment rather than being a side effect.
